Generic Viagra & Pfizer Viagra – Difference?

What’s the difference between the, Pfizer brand, prescription Viagra and these Generic Viagra pills that are easily attainable online?

The difference is that the brand names have been researched by a specific pharmaceutical company that holds a patent on the medication, preventing it from being sold by other companies. Eventually, the drug enters into the public domain and can be copied by other manufacturers. They cannot use the same brand name as the original but sell it as the generic chemical version. The Food and Drug Administration requires generic drugs to contain the same active ingredients as the original branded version. However, slight differences may occur based on the new manufacturer’s choice of inactive additives or fillers. For example, the way a drug is released in the system or the pill’s shape may differ.

There is no such thing as generic Viagra. Anything imitating it is a ‘copycat’ or ‘look-a-like’ & has not been evaluated nor endorsed by the FDA – you have no idea what is in it nor what you are getting. Many people have side effects taking Viagra – like a sudden drop in blood pressure. You might miss out on all the fun – if you’re dead!!

    Hi Ronald
The difference between a brand name medicine and a generic one is in the name, shape and in the price. A generic drug is usually called by the name of the active ingredient while a manufacturer uses a brand name. However, a manufacturer cannot possess a patent for a certain chemical agent, this is why manufacturers of generic medications can legally produce the so-called "generics".They are the same chemically and since the active ingredient is identical, they have the same medical effect. Thus buying a generic medication one pays less but gets the very same result.

From what I have heard the online meds are VERY sketchy! They can contain all sorts of harmful chemicals. I have read reports about people using random chemicals and all sort of CRAZY things to make these online meds. I would not ever take a online med …. The regular viagra from the doctors can even be dangerous if taken in exes…

Generic Viagra is a copy of Pfizer Viagra that has exactly the same dosage, intended use, effects, side effects, route of administration, safety, risks and strength as the brand pill. In other words, its pharmacological effect are exactly the same as that of its brand-name counterpart. The strength and purity of generic medications are strictly regulated.
We switched for generic Viagra about half a year ago. My hubby doesn’t have any complaint so far.

Currently there is no FDA approved generic version of Viagra. There are thousands of sites claiming that there is virtually no difference between Pfizer and their generics, but when many of these "generics" have been tested they contain ingredients like cement dust, road paint and chalk.

Though these pills are typically offered for far less money, they are usually manufactured in other countries (Canada being one of the largest providers) and they are not regulated for sale in the United States. Bottom line is that you get what you pay for and these fake generics can be dangerous and ineffective.

Currently there is only one online pharmacy granted regulatory approval to prescribe Viagra, Cialis and Levitra online – KwikMed.com
